What results can you expect from Clenbuterol?
Clenbuterol, or to give it its full name, Clenbuterol Hydrochloride, is used in the world of bodybuilding and athletics for two primary reasons: decreasing levels of body fat, i.e. getting ‘ripped’, and increasing athletic performance. However, what many who use (or are contemplating using) Clenbuterol don’t realise is that ‘Clen’ is actually a powerful bronchodilator that is commonly used medicine to treat breathing conditions, such as asthma. The mechanism by which it does this is through beta-2 receptors activation, which induces two effects:
1) Expansion and opening up of the airways, which improves breathing.
2) Stimulation heat production in cells, which, in turn, creates thermogenic effects.
From these two effects, it becomes apparent why Clenbuterol is so popular amongst those seeking to enhance their physique or improve their athletic performance. If you’re trying to burn fat, thermogenic agents, such as Clenbuterol, will boost metabolism, which, when combined with a caloric deficit and exercise, will speed up fat loss; whereas if you’re looking to improve your performance, having more air and oxygen in your lungs, and therefore improved breathing, will, of course, have a positive effect on how you perform.
It has been purported that alongside the two effects mentioned above, Clenbuterol is also anabolic in nature, i.e. it helps to build lean muscle mass. While there are animal studies that indicate this might be the case, it has never been shown in humans; therefore, it is best to presume that ‘clen’ isn’t a muscle builder (at best it is anti-catabolic, i.e. it preserves muscle). If you’re looking to build lean muscle mass, then you should choose other PEDs that were designed to build muscle and strength.
Clenbuterol Results: What To Expect
I’m often asked what results to expect from Clenbuterol, particularly in short periods such as two or four weeks; therefore, the question I’ll answer in this section is ‘will those using Clenbuterol see any visible and tangible changes within as little as two weeks?’.
Well, from examining anecdotal evidence, it becomes apparent that users will see some small changes in such a short period of time, but do not see drastic results within a 14-day timeframe. However, from day one of taking Clenbuterol, you will feel its effects. Most people experience shakes or tremors (to some degree), an increase in body heat, an increase in heart rate, and an increase in perspiration. Of course, diet and training are the catalysts for inducing fat loss and positive physique changes, but utilising the potency of Clenbuterol will undoubtedly enhance the results.
Discussing ‘results’ of any compound is often difficult because there are too many variables in play; dosage, cycle length, PED experience, previous Clenbuterol usage (if applicable), weight, genetic tolerance etc. Ultimately, it comes down to two factors: diet and training. The more dialled in they are, the more of an effect ‘clen’ will have. Of course, some may be hyper-responders to certain compounds, but on the whole, most people experience very similar results – provided their nutrition and training are spot on.
What is the best way to cycle Clenbuterol?
As is the case with any supplement or PED, the best way to take (or cycle) it will depend on two things: your goals and whether (or not) it is being taken alongside any other supplements or PEDs. There are three ways that ‘Clen’ is commonly used:
1) By itself as a standalone.
2) With other fat-burning/loss agents.
3) With other PEDs such as anabolic steroids, HGH etc.
If choosing the second option, it imperative that you reduce the doses of both compounds. Stacking Clenbuterol with similar thermogenic agents is potentially dangerous and is not something that should be done. Many experts out there (myself included), advise that clan should never be taken alongside other fat loss compounds such as T3, T4 and even caffeine.
If you are looking to drop body fat and build lean muscle mass (or at the very least maintain what muscle you currently have), pairing ‘Clen’ with an anabolic steroid typically used for cutting/recomping, such as Oxandrolone (Anavar) or Stanozolol (Winstrol).
Whichever way you decide to use Clenbuterol, you must start with a very low dose to ascertain your tolerance to the compound. By doing this, it is far easier to deal with any side effects that may occur. Starting with a moderate to high dose (regardless of your experience with fat loss agents), is a recipe for disaster. As the old adage goes, ‘it’s better to be safe than sorry’.
What is the optimal Clenbuterol dose?
Prior to taking any performance-enhancing compound, there are several factors that must be taken into consideration when deciding upon a starting dose – and this includes ‘clen’.
As you will have probably figured out from reading many of my other article on iSportsandFitness, I am a proponent of starting at very low doses to assess tolerance, followed by gradually increasing the dose throughout the course of your cycle. Dosing too low is far better than dosing too high, which may come with a myriad of (what could be potentially serious) side effects – particularly with stimulant-type drugs such as Clenbuterol.
A standard Clenbuterol tablet comes in a 20mcg dose (note: that is micrograms, not milligrams. Do not get confused between these, especially if you’ve purchased raw powder). However, just because this is the dose of one tablet doesn’t mean that you have to take it all; on the contrary, starting with a quarter – or at most, a half – of a tablet is the most sensible course of action.
How long should you take ‘clen’ for? No more than six weeks, although four is about all most people can tolerate. Do not exceed doses of 40mcg per day. It is highly unlikely you’ll need anything more than 20mcg per day. And remember, just because you may start feeling the effects less (both positive and negative) doesn’t mean you should up the dose.
What are the common side effects of Clenbuterol?
Given that ‘clen’ is a stimulant, it is no surprise that the majority of the side effects experienced from Clenbuterol usage relate to that. But what are they?
The most common side effects are shaking or jittering, which occurs to varying degrees depending on the dose ingested and the genetic tolerance of the individual in question. This ‘jitteriness’ is typically accompanied by sweating and feeling ‘wired’. Over time, this will likely subside, but it is imperative that you do not associate the compound working with these effects, i.e. that if they disappear ‘clen’ isn’t working, and you must, therefore, increase the dose. This is not a good idea and may lead to further (and perhaps more serious) side effects). Sleep disturbances are also frequently reported by users, which isn’t surprising given the fact that a) Clenbuterol is has a stimulant-like effect on the body, and b) it has a half-life of 34 hours, which means even if you take it in the morning upon waking, it will still be active in your system at bedtime.
Other reported side effects include muscle cramps, headaches and nausea, and although these are reported not nearly as much as stimulatory-based side effects, they are still cause for concern. In most cases, ensuring adequate hydration and sodium consumption is enough to halt these side effects in their tracks.
Are there are any serious side effects?
Clenbuterol has the potential to be a harmful drug, particularly if you have a heart condition; therefore, we would advise all those with heart conditions to steer clear of ‘clen’.
Any stimulant, including ‘clen’, will have a profound effect on resting and exercise heart rate levels, in addition to spiking your blood pressure. The combination of an increased and heart rate and high blood pressure isn’t a good marriage where heart health is concerned – particularly if both are raised for an extended period of time. Furthermore, this can also lead to hypertrophy of the heart muscle, which, again, isn’t a good thing.
Our advice? Start with incredibly low doses and stay away from Clenbuterol if you have any form of health condition.
Can women use Clenbuterol?
This may seem like a strange question, but given the sheer volume of ‘his’ and ‘hers’ fat burners and supplements online, it is not surprising that many women are unsure whether or not they can use Clenbuterol.
The answer is yes, woman can use ‘clen’. As it is not an androgenic anabolic steroid, it will have no masculinizing effects – the most commonly worried about side effect linked to steroid use amongst women. However, just because virilization cannot occur, it doesn’t mean that there won’t be other side effects (see above section).
As is the case with most supplements and PEDs, women should always take lower doses than men, given they typically weigh less and often cannot tolerate adverse side effects as well as their male counterparts. From anecdotal evidence, females should not exceed 20mcg per day, with the vast majority needing no more than 10mcg per day (for two or three weeks) to see noticeable changes.
Is real Clenbuterol easy to find online?
In an age where everything is readily available, it should come as no surprise that ‘Clen’ is easy to find on the internet. A quick search for anything related to buying Clenbuterol will yield a mass of results, the majority of which will be online stores offering PEDs and anabolics for sale. The primary conundrum, however, is the extent to which the products available online are legitimate, i.e. they’re full-dosed and contain what is listed on the label, i.e. Clenbuterol hydrochloride. Although it is impossible to ascertain the exact figure (because it is, after all, a grey/black market primarily consisting of underground lab-made PEDs), we can make an educated guess as to how likely ‘clen’ is to be faked.
One of the main factors involved in deciphering how likely a product is to be faked is the cost of the raw materials to manufacture the product. Some anabolic steroids, such as oxandrolone, fluoxymesterone and methenolone, are expensive; therefore, they are more likely to be faked. However, the price of Clenbuterol is actually relatively compared to most PEDs and anabolic steroids; therefore, going on this basis, it is less likely for ‘glen’ to be faked than many other performance-enhancing drugs. That being said, always comprehensive research the brand and supplier of the product before making a purchase.
